Time for another Instagram share:

Our first Grindstone boating weekend.  These are taken in a burst on my iPhone:

It was a perfect boating day:

Evan traded in his LR3 for a Range Rover last week:

Carter's new school shoes fit me!!!!  He is only 7, I have a feeling he is going to be one big kiddo!

Long overdue, Carter learning to tie his laces.  Initially he was frustrated, but when I was getting ready, he came to show me he could tie them all on his own.  Something must have 'stuck' from our session working on them.  He is so proud to tie his own laces!

80s and sunshine, perfect Lakes Beach weather:

Minnow races at Quarry Days.  Carter was elated when he won, Ryan was furious.  That's the story of our life these days with these two scrappers!!!

Weekend Fun

We went to Bunker Beach on Thursday, Lakes Beach on Friday, and Grindstone this weekend.  We had a lot of water time, just how we like to spend the summer months! :)

Ryan and Carter had friends they met at the Lakes Beach.  They dug, and dug, and dug in the sand.  They had so much fun!!!

Ryan relaxing in the water.  It was so warm, it literally felt like bath water!  Even I could swim in it comfortably!

The boys tried out Sondra and Loren's kayak yesterday.  I have more Instagram pic to share that show them a little better.  We had a great weekend!!!

Grindstone Lake

Every weekend of our summer has been booked - with trips out of town or kids' sports.  It was great to be able to get up north and out on Grindstone this past weekend.  It is the one place where I truly relax.  The kids had so much fun, too.  It really is a win/win to spend time on the lake!

I love this giggle.  He is so happy on the lake.  And really, what's not to love?

Ryan catching balls jumping off the boat:

Carter's turn:

Ryan tried twice to waterski.  I wish he would have kept trying.  He was this close to getting up.  Maybe next weekend... :)

My favorite view:

The best way to spend a summer weekend, on the boat!

Ryan splashing in the spray off the back of the boat:

Kyle showing off on the tube:

Evan gave him a good ride, but he hung on well!

Ryan's turn on the tube:

This kid couldn't settle for an easy dismount, could he?

No way, it's full speed ahead for Ryan at all times!

Visit to Pat and Gail's

Evan and I headed to Mequon, WI this weekend to visit my previous boss, Pat, and his wife, Gail.  They just bought a beautiful new home there and it was our first time at their new place.  I wish I had taken more pictures of their home, because it was just gorgeous and had so much character.

We took a day trip on Saturday into Chicago.  Pat and Gail lived there for 20 years and still continue to spend a lot of time there for their jobs.  It's so much fun traveling with the locals that know all of the hot spots!

There were free concerts in the park in this theater every Wednesday and Saturday evenings:

View of the seating area - people strolled around when there wasn't a concert, but you'll see at the end of the post how full this area got during the concert:

Shot of the "bean" from afar - I wish we would have gotten a closer picture:

Evan took these of the cranes and construction site:

There were tour boats that ran every 45 minutes:

We walked over 6 miles on the streets of Chicago yesterday:

Our view from the 96th floor of the Hancock Building.  It was subtle, but it was swaying on a very windy day.  I felt seasick by the time we went back down.  The elevator goes over 60 mph, so it didn't take long to get up or down!

Me with Pat and Gail:

Me and Evan:

Overlooking the restaurant/bar area.  What a great view of the lake from those seats!

Evan and Pat walking:

Getting ready for the evening performance.  See how much it fills up?

My sole shot of Pat and Gail's house, taken as we were driving out of the driveway:

Mom and Dad kept the boys this weekend while we were gone.  Carter rode through the Mora Parade with Grandpa on his John Deere Patio Tractor:

Ryan drove Gerald's tractor through the Parade:

What a fun weekend for all of us!  Huge thanks to Pat and Gail for hosting and for my parents for watching our boys!!!
