Sunday Afternoon Skating

Ryan and I headed to the same rink we went to a few weeks ago with our friends.  We had a great time, but I think Ryan was way more interested in the snow sweeper cleaning the rink than he was in actually skating.  He and Lukas were sitting on the boards, waiting for the sweeper to come by and blast them with snow.  It was a perfect day at the rink, 20s and sunshine and fairly empty!

Zune

Carter was kicking back in his pajamas watching TV and listening to Dad's Zune before church today.  Ahhhh....to be 3 again! :)

Ryan took these photos - with my large SLR camera - great job, buddy!!!!

Carter was learning to take pictures with Dad's cell phone - both boys practiced for what seemed like hours this weekend.  Maybe there will be more photographers in this house someday!  :)

Playdate

Kathy (our daycare Mom) called to see if Josh could come over to play last night.  Ryan has been to there house a couple of times to play on weekends, so it was time to return the favor.  Josh and Ryan were born just one day apart and are buddies at daycare.  The boys had SO much fun - it was a bit like a circus in here, but they had a blast!  I can't wait for summer so we can move the fun outside!!!! :)

Jewelry

I made a few orders this weekend, along with one repair.

This had to be completely re-strung and several beads had yellowed and had to be replaced.  It is an antique necklace with sentimental value.  It was a lot of work, but I hope she likes the end result!

Evan's Birthday

The boys think that all birthdays should be holidays.  They were irritated when they found out that Dad went to work on his birthday or that they would have to go to school on Dad's birthday!  We did call Evan to sing Happy Birthday to him at work when they woke up and then we went out for dinner at Brunswick Zone and had a little cake here afterwards.  The boys also didn't understand why adults don't get special treatment on their birthdays like kids do (crowns, medals, ticket blasters, etc.)  I have to agree with them - we should get crowns and medals on our birthday! :)

Rice Krispie Bars, Valentine Style

The boys and I made rice krispie bars yesterday, per Carter's request.  We rarely bake or work together in the kitchen, so this was fun.  Good thing it wasn't an extensive project, because I lost their interest before we were quite finished.  Good thing to know my limits! :)

Yes, they are pink in honor of the upcoming Valentine holiday!

Jewelry

I made a few pieces of jewelry today but two are a surprise so I cannot post them on here.  Apparently Ryan and I hit the nail on the head when we came up with this piece, because it is very popular right now!

Eagle's Nest

It is -18* today in MN, with a high temperature below zero.  What to do on a day like today?  We decided to head to Eagle's Nest Playground in New Brighton.  Carter had a blast.  It was pretty quiet until a bus load (actually 3 busloads) of 80 preschoolers arrived.  Yikes!!  Thankfully, they only stayed for a little over an hour, and we timed our lunch perfectly to eat while they were playing and by the time they left, we were done.  Carter just started to warm up to a few kids and make friends when it was time to go, wouldn't you know?  He is snoozing peacefully now, after his morning workout of swimming lessons and running/playing.  Makes me wish I was doing the same!!! :)

Where's Carter?

Little Twos

Carter graduated from Little Ones in December and is now in Little Twos at Foss Swim School.  He has Becky for a teacher and she is great - she happens to be the Mom to one of Ryan's previous teachers, and the Office Manager at Foss, Jenna.  Carter was a little hesitant to go with her at first, because he really liked his previous teacher, Erin, but has since warmed up to her.  I am amazed at how far he has come since he started lessons about 9 months ago, afraid to get water on his face (even when we took the summer off!)  There's no stopping him now!!!!
