Celebrating

We served cake, donuts, and coffee after church yesterday in honor of Dad's 70th Birthday party. His actual birthday is next weekend, but he will be celebrating in Canada, on a fishing trip (how appropriate for him!) We had a great day- Happy Birthday, Dad (Grandpa). We love you!!!!

Water Slide

We picked up an inflatable water slide on Craig's List last week and tried it out for the first time at Grandpa and Grandma's this weekend. The boys had a blast and played for hours. The best part - we can just relax in the sun (or shade - I chose sun!) and watch them!!!

Warming up in the sunshine - that water is cold:

Carter woke up from his nap and had to give it a try:

He loved it!!!!!!

The boys at the bottom. Despite the look on Carter's face (I'm guessing he was cold by this point), they really did have a great time!

All kinds of fun...

There is no shortage of things to do at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Whether you are in the mood for jumping on the trampoline, riding dirt bike, go kart or 4 wheeler, or even having a bonfire, you are in luck, because you can do all of the above, and more on the farm. Someone told me that the dirtier the kids are at the end of the day, the more fun they had. If that is true, the boys had a great time this weekend!!!

Trampoline fun:
Who is enjoying this more - Grandpa or Carter?

Speaking of pounding around, there goes Ryan on his dirt bike:

It's too bad Carter doesn't enjoy this:

Carter thinks he should be able to drive:

Stealing Grandpa's hanky - always teasing!

Track and Field Day

Friday was Kyle's 5th Grade Track and Field Day at Meadow Creek Christian School (MCCS). He had an awesome day for it - the weather was perfect - mid 80s and sunshine! He performed awesome as well - he left the day with 3 first place ribbons (high jump, 50 yard dash, and 4 x 200 meter relay) and 1 second place ribbon (softball throw). It was a great day, all around!!!!

High jump approach (his highest jump for first place was 3' 10"):

What did we do before high shutter speed cameras? I love being able to freeze time like this!

4 x 200 meter relay - Kyle was second leg, waiting for his partner to arrive:

Kyle received the baton in first place and perfect handoffs ensured a first place finish:

He's off:

I sprinted across the field myself to catch the handoff on the opposite side:

Nice one!

Congratulating his team at the finish line:

Blue ribbons for all:

Great job, Shawn, Kyle, Corbin, and Zach!

Ryan congratulating his big brother after the race:

Why take the time to use a porta-potty when there is grass right beside the playground?:

Unfortunately, the sunshine and high temps did not fare well for Carter - he suffered from heat exhaustion by the end of Kyle's race. Thankfully, he was fine by evening...
Great job today, Kyle - we are so proud of you!!!!
