Chapel

On the first Thursday of every month, Ryan's preschool class has chapel time, and the families are encouraged to attend with the kids. I enjoy chapel every month. We sing songs, the kids go up front for a story, and then they bring up their offerings. Ryan is still waiting to be chosen to bring up the offering plate - he was pretty disappointed when he wasn't picked again today - the things that are important when you are 4! Today Pastor Harste was the "special guest". He had a great story that the children themselves reinacted. It really hit home for them - I love this preschool and church and am glad Ryan is enrolled there!

Accident

You never want to hear the words "your child has had a little accident", but those were the words Evan heard when he picked up Ryan yesterday after work. He was sledding down the hill by Jill's house when he fell off the sled and hit headfirst into a snowbank that was iced over. It is a little hard to tell by these pictures, but it looks like someone took sandpaper across his face - ouch! He has been a really good sport, though, and doesn't complain at all! Usually stuff like this just happens before family photos!!!!

Fundraiser

Ryan's preschool is having a fundraiser at the upcoming Hawaiian Family Night. They are raffling off baskets. I participated by custom designing a bracelet for the winner of this raffle. I included my bracelet on there so people would get an idea of what they were bidding on. Hopefully it will raise a little money for the preschool!

Bookmarks

Ryan, Kyle, and I worked on bookmarks for Valentine's Day gifts. We are giving one to each of Ryan's teachers at preschool as well as to Jill, his daycare Mom. They are very easy to make and the kids love working on them. I love using these bookmarks and they have special meaning to me - the large beads on the end were from strands of beads my Grandma used to wear. She would be happy they are being put to good use! :)

Ice Skating

I took Ryan ice skating today at a small rink in the park near our house. What a great spot to teach him to skate - I wish we had come earlier this winter (then again, it's been so cold and I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold weather!) It was a gorgeous day to be outside today!!! Ryan was not sure what to think of the skates at first, and sometimes was frustrated when he fell, but by the end, he was able to scoot himself across the rink himself, pushing the chair ahead of him. When he fell, at first he would wait for me to pick him up, but after a few falls, he said to me "I can do it myself Mom, you don't need to help" and he could! I guess we weren't the only ones with the folding chair idea - another family there had the chair! It worked well - maybe by next year he'll be chairless! :)

Bids

This is how you find Evan most evenings, curled up on the couch, Zune on, reading bid packets. He is very busy at work now, bidding upcoming projects. I won't complain about all of the hours, though, we are grateful he has a job! I am a little surprised (in a good way) how much work he has given the current economy. Keep it coming!!!!

Babysitting

My Mom helped us out for 3 days this week with the kids. I had to work on Thursday and Friday and we were at a class at Church on Saturday. When she is here, the kids are in heaven with Grandma around and I am as well. I don't worry about them, dinner is made when I get home, laundry is done and folded, I think we could easily get used to her around all the time....she might have a different idea - I bet she values her sleep and we don't give her enough of that! :) Thanks for everything, Mom - I don't know what we would do without you!!!!
