Lukas's 4th Birthday Party

What is it about snow and 4th birthday parties? It snowed hard for Ryan's birthday party in December and was snowing today for Lukas's. That didn't slow the kids down one bit - they enjoyed getting together to play!

Jazz

Today was Kyle's first scrimmage as a Jazz player. He is in basketball, baseball, and skiing this winter - busy weekend social calendar!

Thankful

We all have things we are thankful for in life. These were Ryan's from preschool yesterday:

Now THAT is cold!

My car thermometer said -16*, but the weather man said it was actually -22* this morning, windchills were at -41*. There were over 200 local schools closed. It has been below zero for 3 days now and this is the coldest snap in 5 years. This would be a good week to be on a warm weather vacation, that is for sure! I am thankful I don't work outside in this weather - how on earth do those people do it???

Pajama Day

Today was pajama day at school and Ryan was SO excited to get to wear his pjs to school! My Mom called and said she thought our school was closed and I was disappointed he would miss school for his special pj and pancake day. Ironically, there is another school with the same name as ours, and our school was open. So we bundled up and out into the bitter cold we headed... The kids were all so excited to be in their pjs and see their teachers dressed the same!

Watching Movies

Today is a good day to stay inside to watch movies. We have a programmable thermostat in our house. It programs for weekdays (Monday through Friday) and weekends, not individual days. I work Monday through Wednesday and am home on Thursdays and Fridays. When I forget to hit the "HOLD" button to keep it at 73*, the temp drops quickly on days like today. We brought Ryan to preschool this morning and by the time we got home, it had already dropped from 73* down to 66* (the daytime hold temp). Needless to say, we cranked it up and hit "HOLD" to keep us warm today! Good day for Carter's new sweatsuit - I think I need one! :)

Star of the Day

Ryan was Star of the Day today at preschool. Last fall he had his shot at Star, too - that day you might remember he brought his "softy", Lightning McQueen, and a SpongeBob Lego. Today he brought 2 different Batmobiles (1 with Batman in it) and his favorite Transformer, Optimus Prime. He has grown a lot in a few months based on his toy selections, hasn't he? What a fun day - wish I could have been there in person. Mrs. Loftus was nice enough to take photos for me!
