Fall Colors

I admit, I am not a huge fan of fall, for 2 reasons: 1) it means winter is directly following, which means COLD, and 2) Evan hunts every weekend, leaving me a hunting widow. Fact of life, I guess. I do, however, appreciate the gorgeous colors that fall brings. This year hasn't been as colorful, due to the early cold snap and snow we had, but I am enjoying the little taste of color I can find nearby... One reason I appreciated the cold snap and snow this year - killed my seasonal allergies. Oh, yeah, you can add a number 3 to the above: 3) seasonal allergies!

Lefty

I try to switch Carter's hands when he grabs a fork or a color with his left hand, but there is no denying it (at least at this point) -he's a lefty. I'm not sure how I teach him to write when I am right handed...maybe Grandma can come down to help with that, since she's a lefty? Maybe they could have worked on that this week - Carter had 'influenza like' symptoms and croup and was out of daycare all week. He is better now, but this morning Ryan came down with the croup (wouldn't you know it?) I opened the windows to let some fresh air in and Lysoled our house today - hoping to rid our house of the cold bug!

Inside

Evan drained the pond and brought the fish inside on Wednesday night. They had some very cold nights in the pond, but they all survived the transfer just fine. I have 22 fish in the aquarium this winter (21 goldfish and 1 koi). I'm guessing they miss the room they had in the pond, but probably won't complain since it is much warmer inside!

Fun at Grandpa and Grandma's

It was a fun weekend at Mom and Dad's as well as a productive one. Evan winterized all three boats, he built Mom and Dad a new bonfire pit (how did I forget to take pictures of that?), he took the boys four wheeling and sledding, spend some time in the woods, put the new padding and ladder on the trampoline (and took them back off for winter - don't ask!), we went to church, and played inside and watched movies. Carter was under the weather most of the weekend, so we layed low inside.

Tracks

We picked up Evan's 4 wheeler with the new tracks on it Friday. First snowfall of the season on Saturday. I can tell you one individual that wasn't disappointed to see a groundcover on Saturday morning!!!!! He was in his glory!!!

Deer

Two deer came across Mom and Dad's yard and field in the fresh snow. We stood on the deck and watched them. How pretty!

First Snow

Earliest snowfall in Minnesota in 24 years. October 10. Unbelievable. Who would have guessed???
